Ray Shan, you have the most perfect eyebrows I have ever seen.
So I’ve been to Brix at Jacksonville Beach (map) twice now. Each time were drastically different experiences, but both were lots of fun. We were there a few Sundays ago; it was upscale, laid back and they had a band playing Jack Johnson stuff. Last night (Saturday) was pretty crazy. The bar was jam-packed and I kept seeing familiar faces in the crowd. Music choice was more up beat (read: rap) and the atmosphere was more energetic. I enjoy their large selection of beers, including Delirium Tremens on tap, the voted “Best Beer in the World” at the 1998 World Beer Championships. Finally a new hangout spot in JAX!

WordPress is getting a little too heavy duty for personal blogging nowadays. Still love it for my other projects though. Was thinking about Tumblr for a while and then discovered Posterous. Loving it so far, so this old blog will have to take a little break.

Just saw this unconventional “Recession Index” on NY Magazine’s Intelligencer. Some of the more interesting YOY figures: # of people spending $2k+ per night @ Marquee: -50% (bottle sales down 10%) Average daily late-night subway ridership, midnight to 6 am: +4% (people still fighting for black car vouchers?) Average rent for studio apartment in Murray Hill doorman building: [...]

IM conversations at leading funds: Analyst: I think that this maker of ball bearings is quite attractive because of its strong operating momentum, $500mm net cash position, and dirt cheap valuation of 6x fully-loaded FCF. PM: WHAT IS THEIR SUBPRIME EXPOSURE?!? Analyst: They don’t own subprime. Or sell houses. Or sell into housing-related markets. Or [...]

Thanks for those that called, texted, emailed and facebooked me. It’s nice know that someone cares about you, especially when you are thousands of miles away. Yes I’m OK, no I don’t regularly go through the 35W bridge, or any other bridges. Best of luck to those who are affected by the bridge collapse in [...]

It seems that just about every other week there’s a need to forward on my interviewee’s cheat sheet to a friend or colleague. I’ve decided to put it up here for everyone’s convenience. Cheat sheet is mainly geared towards investment banking and financial services interviews. It also includes links to some good articles (will feature [...]

If you wondered about what I’ve been up to for the past few weeks, here’s the short version: I’ve accepted a new job and am in the process of moving to Minneapolis, MN. But that’s not the only thing keeping me busy lately. Although things have been chaotic, I’ve been happier and am feeling like [...]
